I've never left a negative review before in my entire life, but my recent experience at Oval Pharmacy has compelled me to share my story, if only to spare others from a similarly distressing situation.
I rely on a specific medication, Methylphenidate, to manage a legitimate medical condition I've had since I was 21 years old—I'm now 35. Anyone familiar with stimulant medications knows the exhausting reality of constantly navigating pharmacies' supply issues, often exacerbated by stigmas that unfairly associate patients with abuse or misuse.
Yesterday, after carefully confirming availability through Insito Medfinder (a paid service I use specifically to avoid precisely this kind of hassle), I urgently coordinated with my doctor to send over a prescription. Everything seemed smoothly arranged.
Yet, just two hours later, when I calmly and politely arrived at Oval Pharmacy to pick up my medication, I was met with astonishing hostility. The pharmacist, without explanation, practically threw my ID back to the pharmacy technician, snapping from behind his desk, "We don't have this drug." Bewildered, I gently mentioned that availability had just been confirmed. Without even making eye contact, he curtly dismissed me again, "That was hours ago. We had it then; we don't have it now," and refused to engage further.
The technician, visibly embarrassed, quietly returned my ID, but the pharmacist never once offered help, explanation, or even basic courtesy—such as ordering it for pickup at a later date.
What pains me most is how normalized and casually dismissive such treatment has become for patients needing stimulant medications. We are routinely judged, stigmatized, and treated rudely, often made to feel ashamed for needing legitimate medical care.
To those who've left glowing reviews—I genuinely envy your experiences but ask you to consider: Shouldn't basic kindness, professionalism, and fairness be extended to all customers, without discrimination?
I sincerely hope this feedback reaches the owner and prompts meaningful reflection. Patients like me deserve better. Our medical needs are valid.
